About the variation with the passage of time of HMC-C029 output frequency

Hello,

About the HMC-C029 output frequency,

In the following two operations of "A" and "B", each output frequency is slightly different.

"A":
 "5-10 GHz sweep in 2msec period" --->  2msec interval ---> "5-10 GHz sweep in 2msec period" ---> *** repeat ***

"B":
 "5-10 GHz sweep in 2msec period" ---> 18msec interval ---> "5-10 GHz sweep in 2msec period" ---> *** repeat ***

It seems that the output frequency changes with the interval time.

Also, if "A" is repeated five times, the same frequency as "B" is output.
Does the output frequency of HMC-C029 fluctuate with the passage of time?

Tatsu

  • You may be seeing frequency change as a result of some self heating.  Total power consumption is 2.4 W. So there is going to be some  self heating after turn on. You will probably also get some changes in the self-heating based on the operational duty cycle. The datasheet indicates a very slight shift in frequency vs. Vtune as temperature changes.  The core VCO inside HMC-C029 is HMC587 so you may be able to get a little more information from that datasheet.
