Mixer and LNA output connection IC-LT5500

Question

What is the purpose of the LC circuitry connected at LNA_OUT pin and MIX_IN pin in the evaluation board in the datasheet? I want to connect the LNA_OUT to the MIX_IN. As described in the datasheet I need to connect an interstage filter between the two pins or I can use RC combination. CAn you provide me with more information about this filter or RC combination? 
 can you please provide me the number of resistance, capacitance an inductor value. 
 Is transformer necessary for output port or not?

Hello. The purpose of the filter is to suppress strong interference (it means unwanted) signal passing directly to your IF frequency because of mixing products. Such interfering signal will degrade the sensitivity of RF chain. You can find many articles on the Internet e.g. about the RF Preselector block.
