To synchronize MAX2880EVKIT to an external oscillator use the following procedure:
- Disconnect MAX2880EVKIT from all external sources.
- Remove the R24 resistor and JP2 jumper.
- Apply synchronization signal to the REFIN SMA connector
- The synchronization signal must have a frequency between 10MHz to 100MHz / 210MHz (DBR=1 / DBR=0), and a peak-to-peak amplitude between 0.7V to Vcc
- The synchronization signal should be unipolar and should not be driven less than -0.3V below GND.
- Complete steps 2 to 10 in the MAX2880EVKIT quick start procedure.
- The "REF. FREQ." box in the MAX2880EVKIT GUI should have the same values as the reference frequency being used. This will ensure all GUI parameters are properly calculated.
