How do I select between the TX and W1 sources for Bode Plot?

There appears to be two choices for the signal generation for bode plots, one for Transformer and W1. How do I know which one to choose for measurement?

  • It really depends on what signal amplitude you require for your measurement:
    • W1 has an output range of ±5 V, which allows you to use higher signal amplitude settings compared to the transformer option. However, this pin is also connected directly to the ADALM2000 signal generator, whose output is referenced to the GND of the LTpowerAnalyzer.
    • The transformer pins (T+, T-) are limited to a signal amplitude range of only ±500 mV, but they also produce an isolated output.
In general, unless you really need a higher signal level, we recommend that you select the transformer as your signal source for the isolation it provides.
