Need clarification on CN0359 Configuration

Thread Summary

The user is experiencing incorrect and intermittent conductivity readings with the LFS1305 sensor on the CN0359 Rev. C board, expecting μS/cm but getting mS/cm. The final answer suggests removing JP1, JP2, and JP3, and soldering JP4 and JP5, but the user reports no improvement. The issue may be related to the 4-electrode configuration and capacitive coupling changes in Rev C. The user also notes that the excitation voltage setting is for Vp, not Vpp, and should be set to 0.35V for a 0.7Vpp excitation.

Hi, I am using the CN0359 Rev. C Conductivity Measurement System. I am using it with this conductivity sensor from IST: LFS1305

The sensor requires the following:

  • Excitation voltage: <0.7Vpp
  • Excitation frequency: 100Hz to 10kHz
  • Cell constant = 0.86/cm

Based on the medium I am using, my readings should be in the range of μS/cm, but instead I am in the mS/cm range. I do occasionally get the right reading, but it is intermittent.

My questions are:

  1. When setting the excitation voltage, is this the Vp or the Vpp? For example, if i set it to 0.7V, does that mean the Vpp is 0.7V or 0.35V?
  2. What could be the possible cause of my intermittent values?
    1. For context, when I do get good readings the excitation voltage is set to 0.6V, frequency is 820Hz, and setup time is around 8% and hold time around 5%.

Thanks!
