Using AD9364 and related carrier board

Category: Software
Product Number: AD9364/AD-FMCOMMS4-EBZ

I want to develop a SDR using AD9364 and Artix-7 family FPGA.

At First, I wanted to use AD-FMCOMMS4-EBZ board (which includes AD9364) and KC705 carrier, but AD homepage told me that ‘This board (KC705) is currently not available. Please consider the Virtex 7 FPGA VC709 Connectivity Kit as an alternative.’

But instead I found AC701 can carry AD-FMCOMMS4-EBZ board too at AD-FMCOMMS4-EBZ User Guide (wiki.analog.com/.../ad-fmcomms4-ebz). But I’m not sure whether I can use or refer to all the example software listed in AD-FMCOMMS4-EBZ User Guide.

  1. Can I use or refer to all the example software in the user guide?
  2. Should I insert the carrier board to my PC? Or should I use the AC701 board cabled to my PC?

Whoever can answer this question please?

Thank you very much in advance.

Hi inhwan,

I'm not sure what you saw on the ADI homepage, but the only carrier boards currently supported by ADI are the Xilinx Zynq series processors.  All the software example, drivers, HDL are made available in a prebuilt Linux image that can be found here (Kuiper Linux | Analog Devices) along with the many other supported projects and carrier platforms (Kuiper Linux Supported Projects and Platforms [Analog Devices Wiki]).  The user guide should walk through the setup and example, but  would know for sure if something isn't up to date.

As far as connecting your carrier board to the PC it is always recommended to use an ethernet cable connection from the carrier to your PC in order to stream data.

Cheers,

Brandon
