This KWIK (Know-how With Integrated Knowledge) Circuit application note offers a step-by-step guide to address a specific challenge of designing a precision excitation voltage source, with a high current output. For a given set of application circuit requirements, it illustrates how these are addressed, using generic formulae, and makes them easily scalable to other similar application specifications. This high current Vref buffer will provide a way to excite low impedance bridge sensors (i.e. 120ohms) with an accurate reference voltage of 4.096V from a 5V single supply, and will provide up to 35mA of output current. All the DC design steps are provided along with additional techniques and simulations to guarantee a first-pass and stable PCB design. |
