External series gate resistor on the ADuM4120/1

Do I really need an external series gate resistor on the ADuM4120/1?

The drive strength of the ADuM4120/1 is very high, and if connected without an external series gate resistor, the gate drive will most likely have large ringing present.

Additionally, the external series gate resistor serves to share the power dissipation inherent to charging and discharging the power device being driven.

By sharing the power dissipation with the external series resistor, the gate driver can operate larger loads for the same die size, resulting in higher performance for lower cost.
