Question
Are there any layout considerations when designing in the ADP5052?
Answer
Since the buck operates up to 1.4MHz it is important to follow some important
rules when designing the PCB layout. In order to minimize the EMI it is
important to place the buck input capacitor as close as possible to PVINx and
PGNDx pins. Make sure also to use short connections for all the passive
components, the ADP5052 pin-out is designed to facilitate this. Whenever
possible use solid ground and power planes avoiding cutouts, use several vias
connecting the thermal pad to the inner ground plane to facilitate power
dissipation, exposed copper (on the top and bottom sides) is more effective in
removing heat.
Make sure that the switching circuit is not placed close to noise sensitive
circuit especially RF to avoid magnetic coupling.
