Question: What output current is possible with the MAX20078 LED Driver?
Answer: The MAX20078 drives external MOSFETs that theoretically allow very high output currents to be achieved, but in practice ringing on the LX node does pose a limit on output current.
For designs with 10A output current or more, and with best layout practice, it was found that additional snubber circuits were required on the LX node.
We therefore recommend the MAX20078 for designs with <10A output current only. For higher current LED drivers please reach out to a member of our technical support team.
