OLED stands for Organic Light-Emitting Diode. They are made up of a series of thin films of organic materials placed between two conductors. When an electrical current is applied the OLEDs emit a bright light. OLEDs are emissive displays and do not require a backight, therefore they are thin, flexible and efficient.
OLEDs contain an emissive layer which is made up of organic plastic molecules that transport electrons from the cathode; this is where light is made. One polymer used in the emissive layer is polyfluorene.
