If you are using the MAX20078 in a high current application, it is recommended that you use a 4-layer board. Here are some recommendations for important considerations for the board:
- Generally, it is a good idea to have an unbroken ground plane below the power components to reduce noise
- The current sensing across the sense resistor is differential all the way to the IC pins, and it is done is 4th layer to not interrupt the GND plane.
- The AGND and PGND are separated and star connected just at one point under the IC.
- To keep thermal resistance low, extend the ground plane as much as possible, and add thermal vias under and near the device to additional ground planes within the circuit board.
