The device automatically transitions between PWM and SKIP modes of operation when the load condition changes. SKIP mode improves system light-load efficiency, while PWM mode maintains a constant-on-time switching. In SKIP mode, the device draws only 40μA of quiescent current from the supply input. .
There is no FPWM active-high pin to force the converter to go into PWM mode, and only when the load condition is at a high enough level can the buck be in CCM (continuous conduction mode). Depending on input and output conditions, the load level could be between 200mA to 600mA in order to achieve PWM mode. Please refer to the Load Regulation typical operating characteristics to determine the approximate load necessary for desired conditions.
