The ordering information table (Page 18) of the MAX20002/3 datasheet contains a column:
TIGHT OV
THRESHOLD
COMING OUT
OF DROPOUT
but the terms are not explained in detail. So, customers often ask what it means.
When the device gets out of dropout region, some products of MAX20002/3 series feature lower overvoltage protection threshold (indicated by Tight OV Threshold Coming out of Dropout = YES) to limit the output voltage overshoot. The Electrical Characteristics Table (page 5) provides a specification for Overvoltage-Protection Threshold for VOUT rising: 107% and this applies to the normal state of operation. For devices that feature the "Tight OV Threshold Coming out of Dropout" then this VOUT rising threshold is much tighter at 102%.
Summary
Normal state :107% --> when getting out of dropout region : 102%
