There is an ESD diode that connects the EN pin to the SUP pin. Leakage through the diode may cause the SUP voltage to rise to the EN pin voltage. The SUP pin voltage must remain below 3.5V to ensure the converter does not turn on. The EN pin voltage should be kept below 3.5V to ensure the converter will not turn on when SUP is left floating. Otherwise, the converter may turn-on and draw too much current through the ESD diode.
