The MAX1682 external circuit is very simple and only requires 2 to 3 capacitors. It is recommended that a low ESR capacitor, such as a ceramic capacitor or tantalum capacitor, be used whenever possible. The MAX1682 datasheet lists a few recommended capacitor manufacturers, such as AVX and Matsuo. From past experience though, ceramic capacitors from other manufacturers such as Murata have been used without issue as well.
