ADM8318 / ADM8320 WDI switching

I apologize in advance if this place is inappropriate for my post.
I have a question about ADM8318 / ADM8320.

I was asked by the customer as follows.
I would like to connect a switch to the WDI terminal of the ADM8318 / ADM8320 and use it while switching, is this appropriate?
Is the above method effective? Or is there a problem?
Does the watchdog function sometimes turn ON, sometimes OFF, depending on the switch?

Best regards

  • Hi,

WDI (Watchdog Input) is an input pin. This pin generates a reset signal ON RESET pin of the device if the signal on this pin remains High or Low for the duration of watchdog timeout. This time is cleared if a logic transition occurs on this pin or if reset is generated. When customer connects a switch on this pin, from where will that switch gets its input? Will that switch make a transition before the watchdog timeout?
