LT3086 in Parallel Using R Package

Question from customer about the LT3086:

"Is parallel operation possible on the R- package & if so how?"

Note:  Compared to the DHD and FE packages, the R package does not have a TRACK pin so the paralleling method shown in the datasheet cannot be used for the R package LT3086.

  • The image below shows a method to parallel the R package LT3086 that does not have a TRACK pin:

    Note: 

     

    According to the designer, with this setup the master may hit current limit first if there is a load transient, so make sure the customer is o.k. with that behavior.

     

    Also, for EAUs of 50k or greater, the design group may consider offering the R package LT3086 with a TRACK pin instead of a TEMP pin.
