Output and Input Capacitor Selection

Thread Summary

The user asked about the correct section for output and input capacitor selection in the SEPIC converter application of the LT8334 (Rev. A) datasheet. The final answer confirmed that the boost design equations should be used for these calculations. The accompanying answer indicated that the query was directed to the chip designer for verification.

Hello ADI Team,

In the LT8334 (Rev. A) datasheet on the store page, the application section 'SEPIC Converter: Output and Input Capacitor Selection' has the wrong text. It states, 'The selections of the inductor, output diode and input capacitor of an inverting converter are like those of the SEPIC converter. Please refer to the corresponding SEPIC converter sections.'

I am designing a converter in the SEPIC configuration, and while I was able to use the inductor and diode sections of the SEPIC application for those components, I was wondering where I should get my application information for the output and input capacitor selection. Would the information for capacitors inside the Boost Converter section of the datasheet be sufficient for all modes of operation of the SEPIC converter?

Thank you for your thoughts.
