What happens when this device is damaged? What is the state of the device? - It will be an open circuit between input and output or a short circuit?

What happens when this device is damaged?

What will be the state of the device when damaged?

It will be a state that blocks any oscillation blocking a voltage/current being present at the output ?

Or it will be state that produces oscillation(s) producing a voltage/current being present at the output ?
