Dear ADI Support Team,
I am currently using the MAX17633 to generate a 3.3 V rail for an NVMe SSD and have configured the converter to operate in PWM mode.
During testing, I observed that when there is no load connected, or only a very light load (a 500 Ω resistor with a 0603 LED connected to GND), the power supply produces an audible "clicking" noise. However, when the NVMe SSD is connected, the noise disappears and the power supply operates normally.
Could you please advise whether switching to DCM mode would be appropriate in this application?
My goal is to eliminate the audible noise when the SSD is not connected, while still maintaining stable operation when powering the NVMe SSD at 3.3 V with a maximum load current of approximately 3 A.
Additionally, could you provide any recommendations regarding the most suitable operating mode (PWM, DCM, or other) for this use case?
For your reference, I have attached the schematic of the power supply circuit.
Thank you for your support.
Best regards,
Phong
