BTB FET's instead of single

Category: Hardware
Product Number: LTC4287

Hallo.

Sorry if this is placed wrong, but i could not find a better place.

If i use the LTC4287 it has a possibility to gate 2 pairs of FET's, but would it be possible to gate to pairs of Back-2-Back FET's to have reverse protection as well ?

I am gonna use the device to switch between 28V, 13A in put and 56V, 13A input, and for obvious reasons these 2 should NOT see each other.

If it is possible, what would be the best approach ?

Sincerely
  Klavs Rommedahl.

  • Hi Klavs,,

Yes, if you use LTC4287, you can connect the MOSFET back to back to have reverse protection. So, LTC4287 can drive the gate pair together  (same gate signal) to provide reverse protection.

However, LTC4287 can not manage two inputs that can never see each other because it assumes only one upstream supply.

Maybe you can use two LTC4287 in parallel and enable one at a time. Or consider using it with Power Path IC,e.g. LTC4359
