MAX17651

Thread Summary

The user inquired about using the MAX17651 LDO for precise output voltage requirements (+/- 0.01V) and whether a generic ADI LDO formula for output voltage calculation is applicable. The final answer confirmed that the formula can be used, noting the FB Input Leakage Current is provided in the datasheet. The MAX17651's leakage current should be considered in the calculation for accurate results.

Hi,

I am planning to use MAX17651 LDO for my project where I need precise (+/- 0.01V) output voltages. The datasheet gives a formula to calculate the top resistor located on the resistor divider. But this formula assumes you are using a 59 kOhms resistor on the bottom side of the resistor divider. The datasheet also does not mention the Feedback input leakage current effect on the output resulted with the following formula:

  -(I_{FB}\cdot R_{\text{TOP}})

My question is, can I use the below formula which is typically mentioned on every other ADI LDO's to calculate the output voltage and is it OK to use this LDO for such precise output voltage requirement?

V_{\text{OUT}}=V_{\text{REF}}\cdot(1+\frac{R_{TOP}}{R_{BOTTOM}})-(I_{FB}\cdot R_{\text{TOP}})
