Minimum Load

Category: Datasheet/Specs
Product Number: LTM8048

Hi,

I am using LTM8048 component to generate an isolated 12VDC power rail from an input 12VDC +/- 5% power rail. Based on Table 1b of the datasheet I am using the configuration of

  • Vin = 9-15V
  • Vout1 = 13V
  • Vout2 = 12V

Based on the datasheet Vout1 should have a minimum load, so i connected on the output of Vout1 a bleeding resistor of 1kOhm.

My questions are:

  1. Vout2 needs also a bleeding resistor in case there is not load in its output?
  2. If yes, can I connect only in the Vout2 a bleeding resistor of 1kΩ, due to Vout1 is the input of the internal LDO, and the current will be the same for both Vout1 and Vout2?
  3. I observe that when I connect the minimum load at Vout1 and run the simulation at LTSpice, then the output is getting higher than 13VDC (near 16VDC), why this is happens? Due to semi-regulation of flybacks output? Is this correct operation or is something with stability?

The Vout1 is not needed in my design. I want to use only Vout2.

Thank you
