LT1054IS8#PBF too hot

Category: Hardware
Product Number: LT1054IS8#PBF, LT1054

Hello,

I use two LT1054IS8#PBF to generate a voltage of -11V from a +12V but which can deliver 130mA max.
The two LT1054IS8#PBF are wired in parallel.
I have a 1ohm ballast resistor on each output. Nevertheless, I have a regulator that heats up more than the other. I deduce that there is only one of the two who is cutting from the current. But I don’t understand why.
If you have an idea.

Thank you in advance

Thread Notes

  • Hello,

The best way to use two LT1054 in parallel to regulate and share current is to connect up like the example circuit below. The OSC pin of IC #2 is connected to the CAP+ pin of IC #1 thru a Schottky diode. Please also note that the CIN caps across the CAP+ and CAP- pins have a resistor to help limit the current in the CAP. That may be needed for low ESR MLCC caps.
