During ESD testing for our device we had the LEDs that are driven by the ADP8140 turn off on multiple occasions. We are still investigating this and wonder if perhaps an ADP8140 fault condition was triggered and not subsequently cleared. We would expect to resolve such a transient condition by setting the EN pin low to reset the driver, and we think this should have happened in our design, but if that did happen then it did not clear the condition. We did not see the condition cleared until the device was rebooted. Are there any known fault conditions that the ADP8140 can enter which would turn off the drivers and would not be cleared by a reset via the EN signal, assuming the overvoltage or other triggering event was transient?
To be clear, this is still an active investigation and we do not know for certain whether the ADP8140 entered a fault condition or that the EN pin was actually toggled. We're hoping somebody can confirm the ADP8140's expected response to the EN pin in the fault condition to assist with the investigation. Thanks in advance.
