Loop compensation

Thread Summary

The user is evaluating the LTC1778 for a new project with 28V ±2V input, 5V 6.3A output, and 970kHz switching frequency. They are using Cc1=1000pF, Rc=20kΩ, and Cc2=22pF but have startup issues and are unsure if these values are appropriate. The final answer suggests using LTspice to check stability with the FRA feature, as the LTC1778 is not supported in LTpowerCAD II.

Hello

My customer is evaluating their board which use LTC1778 for new project.

( They already use this for another project before.)

Target Spec. is

* FA application

*28V+/- 2V in

*5V 6.3A out

*fSW=970kHz

*Forced CCM mode

They set  Cc1=1000pF, Rc=20kohm, Cc2=22pF  in the data sheet  page24 .

They had chosen these with cut & try. so they are not confident with.. ( Also, they have start up issue now....)

My question is:

1)  Are  these  value  Cc1=1000pF, Rc=20kohm, Cc2=22pF appropreate for their spec?

2)  By the way, I want to use LT Power CAD II for LTC1778 stability evaluation. But unfortunately , LTC1778 is not supported.

Could you advise which replacement part (LT Power CAD II is supported) could be used  for loop compensation evaluation for LTC1778?

I hope to this thread find you well.

Best Regards
