Hi,
I’m using the LT8390 in a master/slave parallel configuration, where each slave is designed to turn on at a specific load threshold. The system output is regulated at 24 V. The design functions correctly when operating in the buck region (Vin/Vout ≈ 1.33 or higher). However, outside the buck region—specifically when Vin/Vout is lower—I'm encountering instability during load transients. When a new slave is supposed to turn on, the system doesn’t stabilize immediately, and the input voltage exhibits oscillation or dips during that current transition. This behavior generally resolves itself as the load increases further.
Do you believe this issue could be related to the control loop stability?
I’ve already experimented with various values for the compensation network (Rc and Cc on the VC pin), but the issue persists.
LTpowerCAD provides compensation guidance for single LT8390 designs, but doesn’t seem to address parallel or master/slave configurations. Do you have tools, application notes, or LTspice models tailored to multi-phase or parallel implementations?
Additionally, does Analog Devices offer any support or guidance specifically for LT8390 in parallel configurations?
Thank you,
