I am designing a 28V input, 5V output, 6A buck converter. The total current consumption is 11mA, with an Rsense value of 10mΩ. There is 5V at the shutdown pin, the soft-start pin does not exceed 200mV, and the FB pin stays at 100mV. The converter is set to operate at 300kHz. When looking at the high driver pin, I see a triangular waveform occurring at a 300ms interval. I am starting to suspect that the IC might be faulty because my design is close to the reference design, and Cboot is 1µF. How can I determine if the IC is indeed defective?
