LT3080 drived by a DAC

Category: Hardware
Product Number: LT3080

Good morning, I'm trying to drive the LT3080 using a DAC through a differential amplifier like in the picture:

In the simulation it works perfecly, but in reality I have a discontinuity point under 7V where the VOUT goes to max voltage for some reasons. I move the VIN accordingly to respect the MAX 36V difference between VIN and VOUT.

  • Hi.  The LT308X LDOs may behave strangely if SET is driven lower than OUT.  Sorry that is not well stated in the datasheets.  I talk about that issue in many Engineer Zone posts that are basically listed in this one.   If you just clamp OUT to SET with a diode (anode at OUT), you will see that your circuit operates properly.
