lt3048

Category: Datasheet/Specs
Product Number: LT3048

Hello, we are using LT3048 to supply the reverse bias of two devices. Assuming that the total loading is 50mA @ 7V and each of them would draw 25mA. By calculating the switching current using 10uH inductor, notice that the swithing current is around 240mA which is under BST current limit. We would like to check that if 50mA is hitting the current limit of LDO, could we use BSTOUT to supply an external LDO for the other device?

  • Hi,
although the Switch Current Limit >300mA / 400mA typical, it has Note 3.
Note 3: Current limit guaranteed by design and/or correlation to static test.
Slope compensation reduces current limit at higher duty cycle
So yes I suppose, that you coul supply another LDO out of BSTOUT.
I would suppose, that you simulate your circuit in LTSPICE or PowerCad, etc.
To see actual switch current under maximum load conditions.
Also, if you intend to get high current, you have to maximize pcb heat spreading and cooling.
