Need help for a DC-DC isoled flyback converter

Category: Hardware
Product Number: LT8302

Hello everyone,

First of all, please excuse my level of English and electronics, I’m still quite a beginner!

I’m trying to get a simple 5Vin - 5Vout isolated flyback converter to work, based on the typical application with the diode. I’ve tried to size my components, and it works fairly well for low output currents (less than 300 mA), but as soon as I exceed 500mA at most, the voltage drops, even though I should be able to get at least 1.2 amps.

I've tried adjusting the RC values of the snubber:

  • 1nF 68 ohms: Works a bit better, but nothing above 500mV
  • 2.2nF 470 ohms: Nothing
  • 1.5nF 220 ohms: Nothing
  • 1.5nF 110 ohms: Not great
  • 1nF 110 ohms: Similar to the 68 ohms

Here’s my schematic, but note that the Zener diode I’m using isn't in LTspice—it’s an SMAJ5942B, though the one I’ve selected has a voltage of 51V and a power rating of 1.5W.

Thank you so much for your help!
