Hi,
We have a design with the LDO LT3086EFE which is responsible for powering a USB-A device (5V@500mA). The input power is 12V and at the output we have a 5V power supply.
We wanted to know on the one hand, the normal operating temperature of the LDO.
On the other hand, measuring the TEMP pin of the LDO we get a voltage of 1.2V (120ºC) at maximum current conditions (300mA - 500mA measured). Under these conditions, the USB device stops working properly. We suspect that this may be due to the fact that the voltage may drop due to the temperature. Is it advisable under these circumstances to do some kind of dissipation?
