LT3065 Internal Current Limit

Thread Summary

The user inquired about the meaning of ΔVout=-5% for the LT3065's internal current limit. The final answer explains that this parameter indicates the output voltage will not drop by more than 5% when the regulator reaches its internal current limit, exemplified by a drop from 0.6V to 0.54V at 900mA output current.

Hello,

I'm a DFAE in Japan. Our customer evaluates LT3065 and has a question about Internal current limit. What's meaning ΔVout=-5%?

Regards,

Hiroyuki

  • Thanks for the post.  The specified Internal Current Limit you show above is the guaranteed minimum current the regulator can provide without the output voltage decreasing by more than 5%.  I show the behavior in the image below.   In my example, internal current limit will cause the output voltage to drop from 0.6V to 0.54 when the output current is 900mA.
