Query Regarding Capacitors in DC2744A First and Second Stages

Category: Hardware
Product Number: DC2744A

I have a question regarding the DC2744A circuit design. I've noticed that there are multiple capacitors in parallel at the output of the first and second stages of the DC2744A power supply module. I'm curious about their specific functions and whether they are related to the ESR (Equivalent Series Resistance).

  • The LTC7840 datasheet mentions that a second-stage output capacitor greater than 1.94uF is sufficient to meet the ripple conditions for the DC2744A. Why is a 100uF capacitor used in practical implementation?

I am currently designing a 48W, 5-48V output power, 400kHz 2-phase boost converter. Based on my calculations, a 5.2uF capacitor seems to be adequate. In practical terms, what size of capacitor should I choose?
