Pushing system voltage a bit for MAX38886/8

Category: Datasheet/Specs
Product Number: MAX38886

Hi,

I am looking at using MAX38886 or MAX38888 as a UPS for a Raspberry Pi. In contrast to being a backup to a battery whose voltage can vary quite a bit, the Raspberry Pi needs 5.0 volts with little variation. In my proposed application of this chip, I would like to use a VSys of 5.06 to 5.10 volts, and the backup VSys will be 4.95 to 5.0 volts. I understand this voltage is a bit above the spec for VSys=5.0 volts, but is well under the maximum for Vsys = 6.0 volts.

Do you foresee a problem in pushing Vsys by just a percent or two above spec voltage as I am suggesting?

Do you see any other problems with this scenario? What is the minimum voltage differential between charging Vsys and discharging Vsys?

Thanks,

Scott
