LTC4263 :: POE PSE Controller :: No desired output

Category: Datasheet/Specs
Product Number: LTC4263

Dear All,

I am using LTC4263IDE as PSE controller in one of my project (Prototype) where as 48VDC required as POE .

I have verified my Schematic diagram w.r.t. Data sheet and Evaluation board design document.

I am getting always  +48VDC at Out (Pin 9 & 10 ) w.r.t. Vss (Pin 5 & 6) even if i connect/disconnect POE PD (IEEE802.3af) , where I suppposed to get 48VDC_ Return.

(Note: My POE PD is working fine with other POE PSE circuit.)

My SD pin (Shut down) is high always.

I am using  DC disconnect configuration in my design.

Kindly do the needful.

Thanks in advnce.

Regards,

Prabakaran P

  • Hello,

I couldn't get any waveform at output (OUT w.r.t. Vss) as its pure DC Voltage only (i.e +48VDC). But while i measured through multi meter, its shown +48VDC before and after connecting the PD device (802.3af compliant).

So can you share the reason for expecting that output waveform.  Can you share the expected wave form if Possiible.

Note: In my Test setup, I am not doing any data transfer. Only PoE PSE is connected with PD without performing data transfer.

I unable to move further as all the required things are verified.  Pls give  few alternative ways to find out the IC's functions.

Also, Kindly answer the below queries

    i. Can PoE PSE Provide the Power to PD  if there is No data transfer (1GbE) / No device to do data transfer ?

    Thanks & Regards,

  • Hi,

I am awiting for your reply.

    Kindly do the needful.

  • The LTC4263 datasheet Typical Performance Characteristic on Page 5 shows a Power an IEEE 802.3at PD waveform.

A waveform would show me if the port is completely flat, or if probing is occurring.  This can be tough to differentiate with a DC meter.  The former would indicate improper powering or configuration of the LTC4263 or even a damaged device.  The latter would indicate an valid detection/classification or connection issue.

PoE is applied on the physical layer.  Ethernet data is not effect PoE.

Have you ordered the LTC4263 demo board for test comparison?

  • Hii,

    Thanks for your reply.

i.A waveform would show me if the port is completely flat, or if probing is occurring.

Shall I Probe at OUT w.r.t. VSS pins of LTC4263 (or) Let me know where should i do.

ii. Have you ordered the LTC4263 demo board for test comparison?

Nope, We don't have LTC4263 demo board.

Kindly Let me know any other way(s) to debug.

Is it Possible to get demo at our Premises in order to ease the case (or)  Shall we do a Webex meeting..
