REG_OUT vs SYS outputs usecases

Category: Hardware
Product Number: ADP5091

Hello, I'm working on an ADP5091 integration and I wanted to understand what is the difference between the REG OUT output and the SYS output and what they should be used for, please. If I could get a few typical use cases for each of those that would be wonderful. Many thanks for considering my request.

  • Hello Nino,

Thanks for your answer, I get the difference between the two a bit better now,

Although I still have a couple of interrogations, that are, would the SYS output be suitable without an additional external regulator for a very fast MCU requiring ultra-stable power?

I have trouble finding on the datasheet what are the power regulations that are in place on the SYS pin.

I get that the VID resistor is the one that controls the REG_OUT, but is the SYS output oscillating between VSYS_CHG and VSYS_CHG_HYS when the battery voltage is low and tied to the battery voltage when it is high, or am I missing something?

Also, does VID has any influence on SYS voltage ?

And is the LDO able to actually output on SYS pin or is it REG_OUT only ?

    Thanks in advance
