Paralleling LT8646s with CC circuit

Category: Hardware
Product Number: LT8646S

LT8646s is able to be paralleled, but in the data sheet it specifies that the TR/SS Pin be tied together.

I am currently using this pin to control the current output with a current sense amplifier and a inverting amplifier. In this configuration:

Is it possible to parallel these two converters after R5 and just tie together clkout and sync and FB pins?

Alternatively could I just treat the paralleled circuit as one converter and connect my current sense circuit into the tied TR/SS Pin? Of course this would mean that my current sense circuit goes after both outputs are tied together.

  • Hello alexr05,

Based from the provided paralleled circuit considering that the necessary configuration for current sharing is followed, these two converters will definitely share current. However it is not guaranteed that the current will be evenly shared due to different factors. You may also want to observe the effect of removing the feedforward capacitor (C6) of the second converter as I think the effect of the feed forward capacitor will be taken over by the capcaitor C2.
