LTC4372 not switching off Mosfet when in reverse current mode

Category: Hardware
Product Number: LTC4372

I am using the ideal diode controller for diode ORing multiple input supplies to a battery.   I have 6 on each PCBA and several PCBA's. The controller works as expected in all instances apart from one power channel on one PCBA.

I am observing that the gate of the mosfet is being driven about 10/12V above the source voltage, all the others are about 3.5V.  When the source supply is switched off the ideal diode should pull the gate voltage down  to prevent reverse current flow. But on this particular channel  the gate voltage stays high (about 26V)  allowing reverse current to flow.  I have placed a 10K resistor from the gate to GND. The controller/mosfet now works as expected.  (Mosfet being used NVTFS5826NLTWH).  We have replaced both mosfets and ID controllers before the resistor modification and it had no effect. My concern is that I have selected a mosfet which the controller is struggling to drive / switch off. Any idea why this may happen?
