I noticed that the ADP5301 in a CSP package shuts down immediately when exposed to direct sunlight. This is similar to that discussed here for a different chip:

My suggestion is that all CSP chips should either be specified to work in direct sunlight, or the specification sheet should include a clear warning that this chip will malfunction in sunlight. Most engineers will not be able to guess that the simple replacement of a conventionally encapsulated chip with a CSP can cause a system to cease to function if exposed to sunlight.
