Increase Primary Input Voltage of Royer Oscillator Controller LT1182

Category: Hardware
Product Number: LT1182

Hello,

I like to control a Royer Oscillator Controller like the LT1182 with 1A but at PFC-Voltages (380V-420V) on primary side.

Can I do this with the LT1182 and external MOSFET, but how - or is it possible to bypsss the CCFL VSW Switch Input?

Thanks in Advance      Peterbuilt

  • Hi Peterbuilt, I'm not sure if this part supports for high-voltage in the input applications. Please connect with local FAE to consult your design and need. If you can provide me project info and estimate usage, I can help you connect to one. You may send me private message.

  • You are right. There is better usage with external high-voltage MOSFET like the LT1783 with extermal ramp control. Simulation of this is quite interesting but using this device with an Royer Oscillator is also delicate especially the transformer rectifier circuit. It is really difficult to identify there the real power losses and damping factors. But more or less free swinging would be a nice feature for nearly EMI free power applications. I am dreaming of about a single, main ~100kHz, ~100Vac primary swing sine generator, +/-10% regulated, which is sourcing many small secondary isolating transformers everywhere distributed in a system, generating isolated easily rectified secondary nearly EMI-free voltages.
