LT8309 drop in replacement for FAN6240

Hi ADIExpert

May I Know if LT8309 can be a drop in replacement solution to replace FAN6240 as the application diagram below from DS of it

www.farnell.com/.../2286089.pdf

the output Voltage of customer's application is 30V.

in such case, I think the rectifier that shown in the DS of LT8309 can be removed and  is able to connect VCC to the  Vout node directly

just kindly need your advice that is there anything I overlooked that  may make the replacement doesn't work?

thanks

Ken

Hi Ken,

The diode is used so to ensure that there is no reverse voltage(or in this case, a diode drop only) coming into the input of LT8309. I advise that the diode be retained in the circuit.

Looking at the schematic, since the source is grounded, there will be no problem using LT8309 as a replacement. Just make sure that the input voltage stated in the datasheet of LT8309 is satisfied. Also check the recommendations under operations in page 7 of LT8309.

Regards,

Jhun
