LTC4222 fet short fault

Question

I'm using the LTC4222 to power different scientific sensors and it works fine with some but not at all with others... 
 The ones that don't work have the status of 'fet short fault' after connecting the sensor to it... 
 According to the datasheet, this fault is raised if current is passing through the current sense while the fet is supposed to be off. 
 But the error is raised when the fet is on and only after connecting the sensor to it. 
 
 So what other reasons could there be for this fault?
