Inductor selection of LT8390A

Question

Hi, 
 I have 2 questions about inductor selection of LT8390A The data sheet shows a formula for calculating the minimum inductance but when I calculated Lbuck with the specifications of the evaluation board, it was 2.85uH. it seems that there is a gap between calculated value and evaluation board. 
 [Question] 1) Why do you use 1uH with this evaluation board? 2) How should I calculate and select inductor value?

Hi gattu, 
 You can use this equation on page 20 of the datasheet: 
 
 This L equation is the limiting factor and should be used for finding minimum inductance for this buck-boost. After that, increasing L further reduces ripple, but might increase inductor size. You can use the equation above and work from there.
