Ask a question about LT3795

Hi,

For LT3795, there is a typical application in the datasheet, it shows that only one series LED string is used. My case is as below:

Input range: 12V or 24V DC;

Output: 100-110V, maximum output current:2A;

Others: PWM Dimming;

Refer to this design, as below, paralleling two or more series LED strings together, is it possible to do like this? If so, what will happen?

Thanks!

  • Hello,

    most likely the current sharing between the strings will be getting bad/worse, as the LT3795 only delivers 'one' common current, the distribution within the parallel strings depends mainly on the final Vf values of the LEDs and their similarity between the strings.

    Do you need 2A in each string (double output power)?. Then thermals will be challenging for increased power level as well.
