LTC4162-L 2cell without usb PD

I want to charge 2 lithium batteries from the USB TYP-C connector (charging voltage MAX 8.2-8.4V)

When charging 2 cells of lithium battery (MAX8.2V) with LTC4162-L,

I think that the power supply side must support USB PD (because 5V or more is required for charging).

If an adapter that does not support USB PD is connected,

I think that it will not charge, but is it correct?

Since I am an amateur about USB, I apologize for the inconvenience, but please teach me.

    Hi UBOTTI,

    Hope you are doing well.

Yes you are correct when you want to charge 2 cells of lithium-ion battery you should use a USB-PD since USB-PD voltages can go above 5V. refer to table 7 on page 34 about the cell count setting of the LTC4162-L for usb PD.

Since the battery charger is a step down battery charger,  USB standards (rated at around 5V), will not charge your 2 Cell lithium battery since the system will suspend charging when the Vin Voltage falls below the BATSENS+ level (flagged by vin_gt_vbat).

    Regards,
