CHARGING CAPACITOR IS INTERRUPTED

Hi, I am using LT3751 as capacitor charger. It works with LTC3126 as voltage regulator. When is applied 24 V Vtrans, capacitor is charged until 39 V at maximum then fault pin goes low without any under or over voltage (I ever saw in osciloscope). I observed there is no ground plane under LT3751 layout. This fact has anything to do with my issue? Thanks in advance.

  • Hi FRANSERGIO,

I don't understand how LTC3126 relates to LT3751. It may help if you can provide block diagram or schematic. LT3751 is a capacitor charger and does not need LTC3126 for it to work.

PCB layout plays very important role in switching power supply performance. If you follow demo board DC1322, you can see how grounding plane is done nicely from one layer to next. It is possible that bad grounding may be source of issue.
