LTC4070

Question

Hi, 
 If using the thermal protection on the LTC4070, is there a risk that when the battery is heated the shunt will start to discharge the battery? 
 For example:

If my battery is charging and gets to 4.2V, and then hits 40 degrees, will the LTC4070 then attempt to discharge the battery down to 4.1V. 
 Since the battery can supply lots of current, what will protect the shunt regulator from having its current rating exceeded?

Lab testing shows the LTC4070 will discharge the cell when the LTC4070 reduces its reference float voltage in response to falling voltage at the NTC pin. Falling voltage at the NTC pin is typically the result of decreasing NTC resistance as temperature rises. The current drawn by the LTC4070 in this case appears to not be limited to the 60mA absolute maximum rating of the LTC4070.)
