    LT3081 datasheet briefly mentions about the in built protection like reverse input & output voltage, thermal protection. But do we need to add any external protection circuit for LDO? for example reverse current protection diode between IN and OUT pin.       Hello,
      

      you don't need the mentioned diode as the LT3081 has built in reverse current protection (in case where Vout>Vin).
      

      For other protection measure it would be helpful to know which 'abnormal' conditions your applications will see.
      

      LT3081 is pretty robust for several scenarios. As you have seen, descriptions are in the datasheet.
